Practice: Marta has a wide-ranging transactional practice, including commercial leasing, acquisition and financing work on the real estate side and securities work on the corporate side. Marta also has significant experience in hospitality-related contracting.

Experience: Marta’s transactional experience stems, on the real estate side, from her six years as in-house counsel for a public REIT that develops, owns and manages over 8,000,000 square feet of retail and office properties (NYSE: BFS). Marta handled leases for local, regional and national tenants and worked with the company’s acquisition and development team to acquire and finance new retail sites. She also assisted an affiliate owning 20 hotels by handling portfolio-wide contracts for telecommunications services, fleet and equipment leasing and one-off contracts of every stripe. Marta’s corporate experience comes from her six years as an associate with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman in Washington, D.C. As a member of the corporate/securities group, she worked on IPOs, mergers and acquisitions, private equity offerings and the day-to-day management of her clients’ corporate matters.

Prior Experience: Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP (1996-2002); B. F. Saul Company/Saul Centers, Inc. (2002-2008).

Education: University of Washington (B.A., cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, 1993); University of Chicago School of Law (J.D., Ann Barber Service Award, 1996).
