Summit Superior Court Victory
In a judgment entered on August 4, 2014, King County Superior Court Judge Helen Halpert awarded Summit Law Group client Nikolay Belikov (the former owner of intellectual property rights to the computer game Tetris) an overwhelming victory in a complex and international case for fraud, breach of fiduciary duty and conversion against Maryann Huhs and Roy E. “Al” Huhs, Jr. Judge Halpert's decision came after a hard-fought four-week trial that focused on disputed ownership of R-Amtech International, Inc., a company that Mr. Belikov founded in 1996 to market and license Russian technologies in the United States and other countries. The Court’s written decision concluded that Mr. Belikov is the sole owner of R-Amtech, that Maryann Huhs and Al Huhs, who is an attorney, breached their fiduciary duties to Mr. Belikov, and that the Huhses committed fraud and conversion in attempting to divert R-Amtech’s technology rights and licensing revenues to their Nevada company. The Court also dismissed the Huhses’ counterclaims for promissory estoppel, tortious interference and defamation against Mr. Belikov. In addition to declaring Mr. Belikov to be the sole owner of R-Amtech, the judgment also removed the Huhses from R-Amtech, returned valuable technology rights to R-Amtech, and ordered the Huhses to pay $3.1 million and return real estate worth $1 million. Summit’s trial team was led by Larry Locker, Maureen Mitchell and Phil McCune.
