Please join us at Summit Law Group on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at 3:30 PM for an overview of current private company financing trends led by Summit attorneys Andy Shawber (Business, Corporate/Securities) and Laura Harper (Corporate/Securities).  A panel of investors will also discuss the "state of the market" for private company fundraising.

Attorneys, investors and entrepreneurs will discuss financing structures (Preferred Stock, Convertible Note, Convertible Security/SAFE, alternative structures, etc.), the fundraising process, the impact on founders, and recent developments in deal terms and valuations.

Panelist Bios:

Susan Preston is the Managing Partner of SeaChange Fund (formerly the Seattle Angel Fund), committed to fostering entrepreneurial growth in the Pacific Northwest through early-stage investments, as well as Co-Manager for the Element 8 Fund, focused on cleantech investments. She was General Partner for the CalCEF Clean Energy Angel Fund, which focused on seed/start-up stage investments in clean energy technology. Susan has taught in the MBA program and was the Buerk Endowed Fellow for Entrepreneurship at the University of Washington. Susan also serves as immediate past chair and a lead instructor for the Angel Resource Institute, a global investor and entrepreneur education organization. Susan is a recent recipient of the Angel Capital Association prestigious Hans Severiens Award, given each year to an individual whose actions advance the role of angel investing, expand entrepreneurship and benefit the angel investing industry as a whole. In 2014 Susan received the Small Business Person of the Year for 2014 from the Small Business Council of America. She was honored along with five Congressional representatives in the nation’s capital. Susan also recently received Senator Cantwell’s Women of Valor award, which was presented by then Vice President Joe Biden.

Cameron Borumand is a principal at Ignition Partners. He joined Ignition in 2017 and plays a key role in sourcing, identifying, and supporting new investments. At Ignition, Cameron focuses on investments in business process automation and vertical AI/ML. He’s a hyper-curious investor with a mission to amplify the ambitions of entrepreneurs. Prior to Ignition, Cameron was a co-founder of Curious Capital. He raised a small fund of outside capital to invest in innovative seed-stage technology companies based in the Pacific Northwest. The fund currently has twelve investments in the enterprise software, fin tech, and consumer internet sectors. Prior to Curious, Cameron was a technology investment banker at Vaquero Capital in San Francisco. At Vaquero, Cameron was critical in leading marketing and diligence efforts, as well as sourcing transactions for two leading software companies. Cameron also worked as a financial analyst intern for Isilon/EMC. Cameron holds a BS degree in Business Administration-Finance from the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington.

Aaron Rose is an advisor to talented entrepreneurs and co-founder of great companies. He currently serves as co-founder and chairman of Yeeko Inc., Get Fit With Heath, Inc., and CareerLight, LLC, advising executive management on establishing the company’s strategic direction and achieving their long-term goals. He also serves as founder and managing director of Global Tactics, LLC, an international consultancy advising Fortune 500 companies and startup ventures on global strategic planning and business development, risk mitigation, and strategic alignment of business operations and product development. Aaron launched his entrepreneurial career with the founding of ROI3 Ventures, LLC, a private investment and holding company that provides financial and advisory support to early-stage companies. Portfolio companies reside in the information and communication technology, renewable energy and clean technology sectors.
