Summit Announces Eight New Hires in 2019

Summit is pleased to announce the addition of eight new lawyers across Business, Environmental, Litigation, Labor/Employment and Real Estate practices.

Rachael A. Curtis, Litigation, Labor/Employment

Representing private and public entities in labor and employment matters ranging from grievance arbitrations, unfair labor practice complaints, administrative hearings and civil lawsuits, Rachael Curtis brings measured expertise to Summit’s litigation and labor/employment practices. Prior to joining Summit Law this March, Ms. Curtis served as the Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Spokane County, Washington. She graduated magna cum laude from both the University of California, San Diego and American University Washington College of Law.

Laura Davis, Litigation, Labor/Employment

Laura Davis works with both public and private clients on a broad range of litigation matters. Her practice areas include harassment, discrimination, retaliation, discipline, wage and hour issues, contract disputes, wrongful termination, state and federal leave laws, and negligence actions. Ms. Davis spent over a decade working in the public sector prior to starting her career as an attorney. She joined Summit Law in March 2019 and is a graduate of Seattle University and Seattle University School of Law, and is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, Washington Women Lawyers and Mother Attorneys Mentoring Association.

Angela A. Hill, Real Estate, Business

Formerly in-house counsel for one of the largest Pacific Northwest homebuilders, Angela Hill joined Summit Law in March and brings significant land acquisition and development expertise to Summit Law’s real estate and business practices. Ms. Hill’s clients include homebuilders, commercial landlords and developers as well as tenants. Her areas of expertise include preparation of and negotiation for purchase and sale agreements, leases, easements, entity formations, financing documents, and title and closing documents. Ms. Hill also provides counsel to homeowners’ associations and has unique expertise in the formation of subdivisions. She holds degrees from the University of California, Davis and the University of Washington School of Law, and is a member of the Washington State Bar Association.

Tanya Nesbitt, Litigation, Environmental

Prior to joining Summit Law in September 2019, Tanya Nesbitt developed her litigation practice as a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice and as a Special Assistant Attorney with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C. She brings to her role at Summit Law expertise in environmental, antitrust, business-related compliance and litigation cases, as well as previous work with both federal and state courts. A graduate of Smith College, Ms. Nesbitt was twice recognized as Athlete of the Year, and was awarded with the college’s NCAA Woman of the Year Award. She holds a law degree from George Washington University. During her time at the Department of Justice, she was recognized for her efforts with the Department of Justice Award for Outstanding Service.

Jessica Mitchell, Real Estate

Jessica Mitchell joined Summit Law’s real estate practice in January 2019, and brings significant experience in leasing, acquisition and deposition, and development to the group. She has special expertise in negotiating lease agreements on behalf of wireless communications providers and regularly works with federal, state and local government agencies on behalf of her clients. Her practice also serves developers, private and public companies, government entities and institutional investors. Ms. Mitchell is a graduate of Griffith University and the University of Washington School of Law.

Ian T. Sutton, Environmental, Real Estate

Ian Sutton brings to Summit Law unique specialization in environmental land use issues including zoning, land division, shoreline development and conditional use permitting. He counsels clients on approaches for minimizing environmental cleanup liability in the context of regulatory and property redevelopment, including cost recovery for investigation and cleanup of environmental contamination. Mr. Sutton joined Summit Law in January and holds degrees from Denison University and the Seattle University School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude.

Jesse Taylor, Litigation

Jesse Taylor joined Summit Law in March 2019. He is a trial lawyer who represents individuals and corporations in a range of complex civil litigation matters, including design and construction defect claims, commercial contract disputes, intellectual property litigation and breach of fiduciary duty issues. Mr. Taylor represents clients throughout the entire litigation process, from the initial investigation, to mediation and arbitration, and through the trial and appellate process. A graduate of the University of Idaho, University of Michigan Rackham Graduate School and the University of Michigan Law School, Mr. Taylor is also a member of the King County Bar Association and serves as WSBA-LGBT Law Section-Young Lawyer Liaison.

Alice Truong, Real Estate

Summit Law’s most recent hire, Alice Truong joined the firm in October 2019 following roles as an in-house attorney with two thriving, national companies. Her practice covers real estate issues in the U.S. and Canada, with an emphasis on large volume lease management and negotiation, administration of existing real estate holdings, multi-party easement development, and acquisition and disposition of retail, office, industrial and underdeveloped/vacant real property. Ms. Truong holds degrees from Seattle University and the University of Washington School of Law and is a member and former president of the Asian Bar Association of Washington, founding member and former president of the Vietnamese Bar Association of Washington, and member of the National Asian Bar Association of Washington.
