Employment Attorney - Advice and Counsel

THE OPPORTUNITY

Summit's Labor & Employment group is seeking a seasoned employment attorney to join our thriving, collaborative, and highly-capable team. This position will provide advice and counsel employment law support to our wide range of clients, from smaller start-up companies to large public sector entities. Our ideal candidate has private practice experience, strong writing and relationship management skills, and is passionate about Summit's success given our unique all-member/partner model. We welcome a sense of humor and a team-oriented, run-to-the-fire mindset. 

No portable book of business is required. We offer moving stipends for candidates relocating to Seattle. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience advising clients on a wide range of employment matters, including: 
    • Hiring issues, including pay transparency
    • Leave laws and reasonable accommodation obligations
    • Performance management, discipline, and discharge
    • Conducting and overseeing workplace investigations
    • Noncompetition, non-solicitation, and trade secret protection
    • Responding to administrative chargers (e.g., EEOC, HRC)
    • Personnel policies
    • Wage and hour compliance
    • Discrimination, harassment, and retaliation
    • Multi-state employer issues
    • Executive compensation, including equity, bonuses, and commissions
  • Experience representing private sector clients is required, with additional public sector experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills, including ease with public speaking and a personable demeanor
  • Impeccable drafting skills
  • Member of the Washington State Bar Association (or able to obtain Washington State Bar Association membership within a reasonable period)
  • Washington resident, or planning to relocate to the Seattle area
  • Interest in joining firm membership, given Summit's all-member model

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Summit strives for competitive compensation and offers a full array of benefits with family packages available. 401K options include Roth and traditional accounts, with immediate vesting. We are a hybrid, dog-friendly workplace. As this is a member/partner position, compensation is a set monthly draw with a year-end distribution based on firm profits and personal contributions. Equity and firm financials will be detailed further in the hiring process.
