Legal Assistant: Labor & Employment
THE OPPORTUNITY
Summit Law Group is seeking a legal assistant to join our industry-leading labor team. This seat is especially unique as it supports three founders, including our current and former CEOs. As their right hand, you’ll be entrusted to manage their schedules, keep them organized, and communicate directly with clients. This is a rare opportunity, given the rarity of Labor openings and caliber of attorneys and clients on this desk. Personality fit is critical: we will wait for the right candidate and provide mentorship as needed.

Position Summary
Above any one skill, we seek someone bright, engaging, proactive, organized, and responsive. This position communicates with clients regularly, so a kind and professional demeanor is our top priority. That said, we need a surefooted LA who knows their tech, keeps organized, and is steadfast during the unexpected.
Covering a mix of bargaining and “advice and counsel” clients, this desk primarily handles complex administrative tasks. Anticipate managing complicated attorney travel, scheduling multi-party case events, reformatting contracts, and preparing PowerPoints for the webinars you’ll help facilitate. The ideal candidate will proactively address deadlines, raise new ideas, and partner with attorneys to continually improve client care.
This team is primarily in-office when not on the road for work, and strongly prefers the same. A minimum of 3 days per week in office is mandatory. The successful applicant must complete onboarding onsite before being eligible for a hybrid schedule.
SKILLS
- A kind, professional, and courteous communication style, regardless of audience
- Strong proficiency in Word Styles, document formatting, organization, and development
- Exceptional writing and proofreading skills; including grammar, spelling, punctuation, format, and syntax
- Proactive task ownership, including a “run to the fire” approach
- Ability to keep yourself organized and solve problems independently
- A curious mind, and interest for learning new things
- Smartsheet build knowledge is a huge plus
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage numerous attorney calendars, including coordinating travel, complex event scheduling, and regular client communication
- High-level formatting and proofing of contracts and correspondence
- Maintain electronic and paper files
- Proactively alert teams of approaching deadlines and future case needs
- Complete administrative tasks, including expense reimbursements, scheduling, drafting letters, processing mail, and supporting group and firm initiatives
- Partner with attorneys and Marketing to prepare and facilitate a full schedule of public-facing webinars
- Prepare and process PERC filings (training available)
- Assist in the production of the PERC newsletter
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Required: In office 3+ days per week
- Ideal: 8 years of law experience, preferably in a firm setting
- Outstanding writing, editing, and proofing skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and enough confidence to provide input to attorneys and ask for help when needed
- A strong work ethic and deep pride in the work you produce
- Ability to meet changing deadlines quickly and effectively
- Knowledge of legal concepts, terminology, and process
- Tech-savvy and able to learn new technology quickly
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Summit strives for competitive compensation and benefit packages. Summit also offers quarterly bonuses based on firm performance, commuter benefits, ten paid holidays, and opportunities for hybrid schedules.
While subject to change, we also provide offices for legal staff, firm funded HSAs, and a dog-friendly office.
The salary for this position ranges from $75,000 – $100,000, depending on experience and skillset.
