Summit's COVID-19 Employment Issues Team

Summit has a team assembled to assist with COVID-19 employment issues, including lawyers who specialize in advising and counseling employers, lawyers who are equipped to prevent and defend employees’ lawsuits against employers, and well-regarded industry and medical experts with whom we work closely.  Our team is up to date on the various employment-related laws that have been passed in response to COVID-19, including the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) and the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.  We also have extensive experience handling the sorts of employment lawsuits that may arise as a result of COVID-19, including:

  • Class actions;
  • Wage and hour claims;
  • Discrimination and retaliation claims; and
  • Claims involving causation issues.

Summit is also unique in that we are intensely customer-focused and committed to providing you the most efficient and valuable service.  Toward that end, we utilize a tool called Actionstep for all litigation matters that helps us to manage cases consistently and with a focus on best practices.  For clients, this means that each matter comes with:

  • an early case assessment,
  • a budget,
  • regular updates about the status of the matter and progress against the budget; and
  • an after-action review, where we make sure to follow up with you upon completion of the matter to get any feedback you might have and to provide you feedback to avoid similar claims in the future.

Additionally, every bill you receive for our services will include a value-adjustment line, which allows you thirty days to adjust the amount you plan to pay up or down depending on the value you believe you received.

If you need advice about COVID-19 employment issues, including assistance with preventing or defending a lawsuit, please email us at covid19-employment@summitlaw.comPlease note that Summit generally represents and advises employers on labor and employment matters.  If you are an individual in need of assistance regarding your employment, we encourage you to visit the Washington State Bar Association’s COVID-19 legal resources page (https://wsba.org/for-the-public/find-legal-help).
