Profile Introduction

Evan is a highly effective labor and employment attorney with more than 12 years of director-level human resources experience at the cities of Seattle and Lynnwood. He is also a trained mediator, a former Field Attorney for the US National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and a former judicial clerk in the Washington State Court of Appeals, Division One. Together with his prior work in private practice, his legal and policy experience enables him to provide practical, day-to-day operational and strategic counsel to a broad range of public- and private-sector employers.

Evan helps clients navigate complex labor and employment issues, with a focus on meeting their unique business and legal objectives. He understands the goals and priorities of elected officials, senior executives and management, highly trained professionals, workers from a variety of fields, and organized labor. Evan draws on his negotiating experience and collaboration skills to develop and implement solutions that enable organizations to move forward and preserve key relationships.

Among other issues, Evan advises clients on wage and hour law; disability accommodation; hiring, terminations, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and related leave policies; employee benefits, compensation, safety; and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies. He also represents clients before federal, state, and local agencies, including the NLRB, PERC, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and various offices for civil rights.

Evan routinely develops and conducts training programs covering anti-harassment, anti-discrimination and Title VII compliance, labor relations, performance evaluations, DEI, and other, emerging workforce-related social and political developments.
