WHAT SURPRISED YOU MOST ABOUT WORKING AT SUMMIT?

"I was surprised by the variety of cases and legal issues the firm handles. Throughout my internship, I was introduced to interesting areas of law and cases that I had not encountered before. I also learned quite a lot about working with public sector clients. I was especially surprised by how interested I became in labor and employment law, particularly the labor side of the practice."

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE FUTURE INTERNS AT SUMMIT?

"I would say to ask questions and be proactive about seeking out opportunities to learn. I would encourage future interns to reach out to attorneys and ask about their work, attend matters when possible, and take advantage of opportunities to observe different types of hearings, bargaining sessions, etc. You never know which experience might introduce you to an area of law that you really enjoy."

how will your time at summit inform and shape your career trajectory?

"My time at Summit has built on what I learned during my 1L year and has given me a much better understanding of what practicing law looks like day-to-day. I strengthened my legal research and writing skills, while gaining exposure to a wide range of legal issues and practice areas. My experience at Summit sparked an interest in labor law and has encouraged  me to explore that area further."
