Summit Defends the Washington House of Representatives Against an Injunction Request Challenging the Denial of Press Passes to Political Activists

Summit Law Group successfully defended the Washington House of Representatives from an injunction request by three political activists challenging the denial of their applications for press passes. The Washington House of Representatives, like Congress, the White House, and many legislative bodies, provides press passes to qualified journalists to report on activities on the House floor by the elected members. Activists, irrespective of their political views, are not allowed press passes. Judge David Estudillo of the Western District of Washington agreed with the Summit legal team that the House’s viewpoint-neutral rules satisfy the First Amendment and Due Process and denied the plaintiffs’ temporary restraining order motion. The House was represented by Jessica L. Goldman, Eva Sharf Oliver, Jesse Taylor, Karen Francisco, Sarah Gunderson, and Sharon Zankich.
